Aamir's reaction definitely took me by surprise

Lagaan, which released in 2001, was the third Indian film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language clocked 15 years on Wednesday. Also read: 15 years of 'Lagaan'! Twitterati celebrate their wit, history and more... Aamir Khan at the airport So, when Aamir Khan — he was snapped at the airport yesterday heading to Ludhiana for the shoot of Dangal — was asked to comment on it, he looked visibly surprised and confessed, "Oh, really? Main toh bhool hi gaya tha (I had completely forgotten)." Aamir's reaction definitely took me by surprise.

When Aamir Khan first set foot in Bollywood, his chocolate boy looks perfectly fitted the persona of a lover boy in pursuit of his heroine's affections! And for the longest time, the actor did get slotted as the romantic hero in films, which he played with absolute aplomb. But then, the actor in him must have craved for more of a challenge, because that is when he gradually started turning towards more content driven cinema.

In fact, his first production Lagaan, in which he also played the pivotal role, was a massive risk in those days. It was a gigantic film, with a huge cast, budget and a rather inexperienced director. But much to everyone's surprise, the film succeeded and went to receive not just national acclaim but also became the third Indian film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

On the fifteenth anniversary of Lagaan's nomination at the Oscars, Aamir Khan was asked to share his two cents while en route to Ludhiana, however the star looked confused and surprised! "Oh, really? Main toh bhool hi gaya tha (I had completely forgotten)", he said in an article in Mid Day.
